Quote: what do you make of this 1912 Liberty.? I see s but that's just what I want to see, right.? If you think it's an S, then put it in your S spot. If that's what you see, that's what it is. Who cares what other people think. Convince yourself it's an S and you'll be thrilled. It's close enough and it's your coin after all.

Hehe I fantasize about having the means to grab $100,000 worth of nickels and putting them in storage for the day the nickel is debased so I'll still have plenty to search through at my leisure... you know just in case that sorta thing happens... yeah... :-) Anyroads, I am now in the midst of a bit of a slow spot. The last box I went over only merited one upgrade and one War Nickel. I'm pretty much down to missing the following in my Harris 1938-1961 album: 1938-D, 1938-S 1939-S 1942-P, 1942-S 1943-D 1944-P, 1944-S 1945-D, 1945-S 1946-S 1947-S 1949-S 1950-D (no surprise there, eh? :-) ) 1951-S 1955 (I've posted all of this with a few examples of my other finds on Numismetrica here http://www.numismetrica.com/collection/5 ) Now you see if I had that $100,000 in Nickels and the Law of Large Numbers is to be believed, I'd feel confident that I'd *have* these... I'd just have to find them! :-)

I'm so happy to hear that. That's what I thought at first, I'm glad someone confirmed it.

Wife and I had our first non-buffalo box....4 buffs out of our first three boxes was a nice way to start off. The box made up for it though by surrendering 3 War Nickels, 43P, 43S, 44P....and this find we are particularly happy about.....

I bought a box the a week or two ago, the rolls were customer wrapped. Twenty of the rolls were all '40s and '50s some '60s peppered in there. But I had about 500 keepers from that box, unfortunately no War Nickels.

I have searched about 1400 rolls in the past months and I have found the most/least pre-1960 (by decade and not including '30s, Buffalos, or Liberty):
40s: 1947-P (84); 1949-S (1) 50s: 1959-D (69); 1951-S (1) War: 1943-P (12); 1942 (0)
Other notables: 1907 Liberty Buffalo (9)-various dates and no dates 1938-D (1)

Quote:One is a 1943 with no mint mark. Can we see a picture? There was no mint mark on the reverse? That would make it an error or a fake.

I have found several War Nickels that were so worn that I had to use a loop in order to see the mint park, it was very faint but was there, could this be an explanation?

I think I might stop saving the 2009 nickels. If I can sell them on ebay then I might continue, but I already have 431 2009 d nickels. Does anyone else not save this year anymore? And that 431 I have is not including the many that I threw back due to their condition not being good enough. Like I threw 2 back in this box alone.
