Finally found it the last one, this completes my Dansco album 1938-2012. From now on I will be looking for upgrades. Also found a war nickle in this box which brings my total to 210 war nickles this year. I average looking through about 10 boxes a week.   |

Way to go TRAPPER...I'm much slower at hunting..I don't rip the rolls just looking for Silver..I slowly look at most coins' mintmark with my loupe, hoping for an RPM, or, Doubled Die(so many are hard to locate with anything past EDS, washed out)..I'm in no hurry...
What is interesting is the lack of errors hunting nickels, compared to Cents and Quarters..at least for me, I find simple clashed nickels and off-center coins real rarities..broadstruck's too...these things usually happen in clumps...weeks of nothing, then, boom, 4 in 2 rolls, for example...no way could I do 10 boxes a week.

I'm retired so I have plenty of time. I do yard work and home maintenance during the day and look at nickles at night.
My wife picks me up boxes several times a week or whenever
she goes out of the house.

I don't think many people in my area are searching
nickles mostly quarters and halves from what the tellers tell me.So that makes the pickings good for me.

Im in Minnesota. Denver coins are usually more common here than others.

My effort was MUCH more modest! I wanted to take my father's Jefferson nickel collection up to 2005. He was current to 1961, so the tough ones were already there. I bought 5 rolls and swapped out every new face with an older one at local banks, groceries, post office, etc. I found 77 of the 89 coins I needed in quite good condition. I am purchasing the 10 missing nickels (6 from the 60's) that I need from the 20th Century. I will keep noodling for the two 21st Century nickels I need. I have a day job so there are limits to how much time I can spend on such an endeavor! The most interesting find: 1972S. That's right. A 1972S Proof coin in circulation! |
