First of all congrats to the two gentlemen who found the V nickles. It has been a long time since I found one. Went through 4 more boxes pretty slim pickings. only 5 keepers. No silver in my last 8 boxes. My longest dry spell without silver is 14 boxes, I hope I do not break that record 1937 Buffalo, that's the eleventh 1937 I have found 1946s 1948s 1958 (2)

Also, I'm curious. How many nickels did you have to go through before finding a V nickel? About $1000 worth? $2000?

Hi CrazyCat, > Also, I'm curious. How many nickels did you have to go > through before finding a V nickel? > About $1000 worth? $2000? I have been though 648,000 nickels ($32,400) and have found six Liberty Head (V-nickels ), so for me its about one in every fifty-four boxes ($5400). My goal is to find a Shield nickel. It has been done, but its very, very rare. -Joseph Curwen, Gent.

Nothing. It appeared to be a full 2012 D box.

Thanks Joseph! Anyways, did a measly $20 and got only two keepers but boy, were they good. Another 1944-P War Nickel, and the star of the show... Drumroll please... A 1909 V nickel! My first one!
