In one year of keeping track of nickels my results are based on 86,760 nickels. I find one 1959 or older for every 69 coins I look at or 1 in every 1.16 rolls. I got all but 5 coins in the period 1938 - 1959. Here are my one year results:

You have done well for only one year. Of the five nickels you don't have, four are really hard to find. I'm not sure why you haven't got a 1945D yet, but you will. Keep at it!

Regarding the 1944 Ds - I found 4 of them in one $200 bag of nickels as well as 2 1942 S.

Searched $171 in cwr....worst ever. One keeper in the whole deal...no buffs or silver. 1954 with a few steps   |

Found a 58 proof today that's in immaculate condition. Was shocking to see such a beautiful coin amongst a bunch of worn ones.

It's been a while since finding anything worth reporting. 1 box, 1 1944. I can't remember the last time I got a nickel that was pre '50's.

i have a hand full of 09-D's but no P's went through a whole box last night only gave up one war nickle and a few from the 50's all the rest was 2000 and newer.
