Finally went through the $28 in CWRs and found quite a few BU 80's vintage plus:

1941s
1947s
1956
1960

1979 s (proof)

1937 CDN
1963 CDN
1968 CDN

As well as a handful of CDNs from the 70's
I'm guessing the person who cashed them in may have traveled to Canada in the 70's...interesting.

Just found this 1963.I was wanting to know if anyone thought it was a proof. It is mirror like around the lettering and other area's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's possible since it doesn't have a mintmark and it looks to be in AU condition.

I agree, could be a proof, judging by the rims.

If it is then by definition it cannot be AU. However, proof grades do run from 0 to 70 just like circulation strikes. For example, AU-55 equivalent wear on a proof would make it PR-55.

when I saw the back I new when I flipped it over it would have a s-mint mark.it was the same feeling I had when I found my other proofs.

I also pulled 5 really nice 1987/88 nickels. However, they look so good, I'm not sure if they may have been plated. Here is a picture of one of them, they all pretty much look like this one. Any help would be appreciated.

3/1 results

2500 nickels searched
30s - 3 1939
40s - 16 (1947 in nice condition being the best)
50s - 11 (possible 1954 WDDO-002)
60s - 7 (1965 impaired proof)
80s - 5 (1982D, 1983 in AU)
Foreign - 20 Pence, Bermuda nickel
Error/Variety - 1984 plain, couple clashes, 1954)

Not a terribly interesting box, but the 1947 was an upgrade to the project folder. No change in position. Funny thing is that I've 3 impaired proofs since starting the project (64, 65, 69S). Someone must be releasing them somewhat locally I guess.

Skibs - me too!! 12 rolls into a new box and I've 3 Buffalos (one dateless) and 38 40s-50s. I see at least one more hole filled for the 2015 project. 3 1939 with one in AU condition (ALWAYS CHECK THE SHINY ONES!!). Several AU+ 60s and a couple 70s. Pictures pending the completion of the box! Have fun on your hunt!
