Nice on the War Nickels folks. Got a roll last night with 2. Before that the last 2 I received were in the same roll. Funny. And I enjoy finding 1950Ps as well...1950Ds better though.

Happy hunting.

Keepin' the faith.

OK, so I went through 20 rolls this morning. First dozen, nothing of note, then I opened a roll and got a 53P. OK, things are looking up. Next was a 54S. Huh? Then a couple of early 60's D mints. And several 64D's. Well, that was the end of that. Then a 47D. oh? et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. The whole roll was pre-65 in F-VF. Several 64D's and a few early 60's D mints, but overall about 25 "keepers" from the roll--no wars or semi-keys, but enough to be keepin' the faith. Then back to duds for the next rolls. Still no wild 2009's and still looking for a 2015D in the wild (here in P country).

The ups-and-downs. I have a good box going at the moment so hopefully it stays hot. Don't forget to check for DDRs amongst those 60s nickels. You might have a better box going.

I was starting to think I'd never find any War Nickels. But after another 20 rolls, a couple of 43-P nickels showed up.

While I finally found a couple of War Nickels, I'm starting to convince myself that there never really were any nickels minted with a 2009 date. At least in the U.S. And if there were such nickels minted, they are kept in Area 51.

Believe me, 2009 nickels exist. Their mintage is 86 million, so that isn't as high as the rest, but you'll find one eventually if you keep looking. They'll probably be considered a key date in the future.

Ah, you must live in Nevada. Or near Roswell, New Mexico.

2009s are a more difficult find, but you'll find them. Most are pretty circulated though. Finding choice specimens is even harder, but not impossible either. I found 2 of the nicest in this latest box. They'll make the fun finds pictorial.

I have found AT LEAST twice if not 5 X as many 2009 NIFC halves than 2009 circulated nickels.

However I search 6:1 ratio more halves.

BUT that is 3:1 coins looked at ratio.

There were 86 mil nickels made vs. 3.4 mil halves.

I'll leave it to the math wizards and Vegas odds makers to do the final math.

I'm so excited right now. I posted this in my other topic but I felt like on this occasion it was OK to post again. That's a D mint mark on the 1950!!
