Love the proof.  And that "war" nickel. I guess that is one way to make a 1964 nickel stand out.  |

It is counter-stamped with a large P above the Monticello, similar to what War Nickels have (large mint mark placed above the Monticello). |

Yes, The nickel I pictured is a 1964 with a P above Monticello, it is a counterstamp to make it appear at first glance that it is a War Nickel or to fool somebody who wouldn't know the difference. Somebody also took the time to add a big smiley to it to...I'm guessing, to say "this is my dump and there is nothing good in here" all the nickels were in terrible shape and there no dates before 1963. I found it quite humorous. |

You have to have a good sense of humour to search nickels, especially when it comes to the 1964s.  |

This may sound silly, but in my first box of nickels there were several 1964Ds that were in pristine condition.....easily of the AU grade, and I ended up saving them. I know there were a lot of them minted, but how many are in that condition today?

I haven't posted in this post for a very long time. After I finished my Jefferson circulated set within month, I stopped posting. I was very actively searching nickels between 2009-2014 then slowed down for a while. Now I am trying to finish two boxes per week. This is from tonight's box. No hole filler though. Nice Yinzi! DCM - there are a number of doubled dies for the date. Any high grade 60s nickel gets special attention from me. I've found several DDO, DDR, rpm and DDR/DDO specimens. In high grade the ease of finding markers improves along with the potential value. |

Luv those Buffs.... I finished 2 boxes. Only found 1 silver Found one "M.A.D."  Found 2 1942-D's....but I usually don't report them ... |
