Nice Buffalo find, aristarchus123.

I like to say I make my own luck... when I'm finding good stuff, I buy more rolls from the tellers/branches where I'm finding them. And I buy less at the ones where I'm not doing well.

I'm not having the luck of John77 (Congratulations!) but, I was pretty excited today after about $300+ in nickels and saw this spill out:
That would make me excited, too.

Did 4/5 of a box today (40 rolls) and got 23 pre-60s including these two things with that big letter above the dome. Love the condition of the 1st one!

You are still on a roll with nickels and there is no sign of letting up.

First roll tonight had a 1935-P Buffalo nickel; I was 2/3 through the roll before I spotted it!

Nice coin, aristarchus123! And thanks again, jbuck!

Well, I had a truly epic batch today... My bank got a new bunch of LOOMIS nickels. I've not had the best luck with them in the past. Well, that all changed today as I purchased 26 of the 50 rolls from my teller (along with the 4 rolls left over from her old box). As I opened the first roll, I right away noticed this batch was going to be good... 3 coins in the 40s in that one... I was finding up to 5 or 6 pre-60s in some rolls! The final tally: 98 pre-60s including a 1937 Buffalo, and a 1938-D Jefferson! Needless to say, I will be picking up the rest of that batch tomorrow first thing in the morning, and hoping that more of the boxes from that shipment are similar. There were also AU/BU coins from the 50s and 60s amongst them, and several Uncirculated coins from the 70s ...

So I went back to that branch first thing this morning... the teller who sold me the Nickels wasn't in until 9:45, so I killed some time and actually applied for a low interest loan while I was waiting...

So she gets there, and I'm her first customer... I ask her for $48 of nickels, but sadly someone had bought 6 of the rolls ($12 after I left yesterday)... So took the remaining $36 worth and went through them... 71 MORE pre-60s including a 1936-D Buffalo, a 1942-D and 1949-S Jeffersons... So in 44 rolls of coins I pulled 169 pre-60s!

So given that this one box of LOOMIS nickels was so good, I decided to cash the rejects in at another branch and then checked with the other tellers to see if they had any. A couple of the tellers had no nickels, one had the generic ones - I had bought $10 of them earlier which were a skunk...

So then I went to the end teller, the one who usually orders the coins every week. Well, she had just put a full box of the LOOMIS coins in her drawer... So I took ALL of them, plus one generic MWR... As I opened the rolls, I noticed the same kind of coins in them - several AU/BU 1956, 1959, and 1960 Philadelphia coins, some Uncirculated Denver coins from the early-mid 1970s, along with some of the older coins. The only difference is there weren't as many of these coins... I found a roll with 4 pre-60's in it after a couple of skunks, and two BU 60 Phillys in the next roll, so I knew these were the same batch... I then found a dateless Buffalo...

About midway in, I ran into a 1938-dated coin... It looked really sharp. I turned it over, and BINGO! It had the "S" on the back! I was thrilled... now I only needed 4 coins for my set out of circulation.

The very next roll was even more thrilling... I found a 1939 which looked only very lightly worn. I turned it over and yelled when it had the "D" on the back! I was so happy! That took me down to just 3 coins left for my set out of circulation. Although the pre-60s weren't as plentiful, that box still had 37 of them...

Oh, and that generic roll? One pre-60 - an EF 1951-S!

Needless to say, I will be making another trip there... and taking as many of those LOOMIS nickels as I can get my hands on! A 38-D, 38-S, and 39-D in a manner of less than 24 hours... totally in shock right now!

I just got my first coins in about three years today. Two boxes of nickels, one of dimes, and one of cents. The cents and dimes appeared to be all 2016's though. However, the nickels didn't. I just finished the first box which contained 6 War Nickels, one dateless Buffalo nickel, 16 pre 1960 Jeffersons, 2 2009's, 2 British twenty pence coins, and a Guatemalan 10 centavos coin. That's my personal record for War Nickels. Hopefully the second will be just as good.

6 War Nickels and a dateless Buffalo is not bad at all, Coinhunterseth! Hope the next box is just as good.
