The Goal: 25,000 Rolls Of Nickels (All Searchers Welcome!)

I picked up my second box of nickels today. Will start going through them later.

I also picked up a box of... dimes. Is there another post dedicated to dime roll hunting somewhere? I looked around before and nothing stood out like this one for nickels.

Did 2 boxes of nickels and found 2 buffalo and 2 War Nickels. 1935 and 1943p. The lowest mintage coin I found was 1950 p. I think I'm hooked on nickels!

My last $37 of nickels was fun, with a 1936 buffalo and a 1938 among other old nickels.

I've been on a bit of a nickel streak.... last box of 2016 had a V nick. Then my first and 3rd boxes of 2017 had a V nickel!

The box I did last night might be my best yet, it probably was. Most war nicks I ever got in a box was 7, and this box gave up 4. It also gave up a 37d buff, and my oldest nickel find to date, an 1883 w cents V nick. Nickel portion of signature updated for the 2nd time this week.

Does anyone know why the 1883 w/ cents is worth more than the variety without cents? Especially when there is a higher mintage for the ones w/ cents?

Honestly, I do not know. I know I have a MS 1883 no-cents V-nic I bought for $10 a few years ago, but I don't know the answer to your question.

My best guess is that the no CENTS variety was widely saved due to perceived rarity and investment potential, well the variety with CENTS was ignored and allowed to circulate.
