Hi all, Went through a box, and found 29 pre-60's. We found 2 fillers for our from circulation Jefferson collection, a 1951S and a 1955! We also found a 1940S, 2 1947S's and 3 1942 plains, unfortunately not the silver ones. Also, found a 2002S proof: That just leaves one coin to find for a full set - 1942S. Happy Hunting all!

I'm new to roll searching but I found a 41S, 2-57D and a 71S. Is that one from a mint set? I saved a few other nickels that looked nice incase I do a book. I checked 20 rolls.

Correction I found a 70D so I'm a little disappointed.

Wow... you matched my 1951-S and 1955 finds, and raised me a proof, dadscoinhobby! And those 42-Ss are out there, just keep searching!

This morning I was going through $50 of S&S rolls from a fresh BofA box. This Brilliant Uncirculated one popped out early this morning reverse side up with the D showing... I loved the toning, and was shocked when I flipped it over and saw the date was 1938! My first key date Jefferson find of 2018, & what a beauty! In all, I bought a total of 6,600 nickels on Friday, they yielded 61 pre-60s including 4 War Nickels and a 1949-S. Also found a 1962 Proof and 12 2009-Ds in addition to that beautiful key!

Nice finds John, especially that 1938. Last box of nickels from BofA that I picked up were brand new!

Thanks, shotgung and jbuck.
With BofA, I never get boxes because of what happened to you with that last box, shotgung, as it happens a lot with them in my experience. At one of my branches, they got new S&S coins for more than 3 months straight at one point! I usually buy 15-25 of their S&S MWR at a time when I visit their branches. The tellers know me well enough to let me see what they have upfront and know I don't want new coins.

First box of nickels in 2018 was fun. No Silver 38 pre-60s including these This was a nice looking one: It's not the best looking but it is my first 2009D I have only found 5 2009P in the last few years. We were shocked to see the D!

Nice folks!! 2018 is starting out well across the board. I've been lazy about the two boxes I searched this year (posting finds). The first box yielded a number of pre-59 Jefferson including a number of 1938/1939 (about 40) including a few Ds and Ss and 3 RDV1938/1939, a number of 1940s PDS including 1 1941S large and a 1942S, a number of 1950s PDS including 4 1955 and 3 1951S (no 50Ds though), and a bunch of 60s coins to hunt for varieties. I went back and bought the only other box they had at my bank. Not as good as the first, but around 140 pre-1959 nickels and a litter of 1971-1974 PD nickels in AU/BU (these will help make a dent into the rolls by date/mm). I did find a 1923 Buffalo in the second box though and a few nice 1982/1983 nickels. I truly believe this is the best time to hunt!! Every year I wait for this time slot and I haven't been disappointed yet. Happy hunting everyone!

Thanks, aristarchus! And great boxes Yanks21 and Rackster! Rackster, your two boxes remind me of the LOOMIS ones I got a year and a half or so ago... the one box had 170 pre-60s (and that was only 44 of the 50 rolls, yes 6 rolls got away)... the other box had 37 pre-60s. There were no War Nickels, but included in that batch were a 1938 D&S and an AU 1939-D... As for me, I bought 16 S&S rolls on Saturday at one of my BofAs... 9 pre-60s including a 49-S, my first 1950 of the year, and a 1935 Buffalo along with a lone 2009-D. 10 CWRs from Chase produced 2 pre-60s and 2 2009-Ds. I will likely hit the local BofAs hard this week as they've produced some really good coins the past few days for me.
