fish nickel? Either Bermuda or Bahamas nickel (I forget which is which...I think Bermuda). One has a fish and the other one has a pineapple. They show up pretty regularly in the boxes I search (although not as often as Canadian). Edited by ratman4762

Bermuda, I live on the east coast so they show up fairly frequently here to. They only go back to like 1970 so it should be possible to collect the entire series from circulation since there are no keys

Interesting XOG ...... I checked my pile of foreign finds and have four Bermuda 'fish' nickels ..... 1970, 1996, 1997 and 2001.

Went through my first box of nickels and below is my summary and some novice questions. 40+ 1964 not sure what was up with this, after 30 I started putting them in the return pile 1936 Buffalo (mint mark is not visible) No date buffalo 3 War Nickels - 43 P, 44 D, 44 P - 44 p is in bad shape. 3 S nickels. 1962 Brilliant AU / BU with full steps. Has some minor contact marks BUT not on the steps. 20 1950 to 1959 35 1980 to 1989 Very few 1970's and I did not keep any. My question are The 1943 P reverse is off center and is in the 11 O' clock position and is very visible even to an amateur like me. Is this common? There are steps on the left Pillar and right pillar. Are these as important as the center steps? Pardon me for any mistakes / lingo as I am new to coin collecting. My son and I started a few months ago and are starting out with nickel and penny boxes. I also have not figure out how to take a picture of the coins otherwise I would post I the 1962. TIA Peace |

Ceylon62, I only save super high grade ms ones, proofs, or those with full steps. They are the most common date for nickels and there mintage alone exceeds the enitire mintage of the buffalo series. Dump them all, or better yet melt them and pull them out of the circulation pool lol

Nice Yinzi50! Hard time rounding up nickels today. Had to stop at 8 banks to get the 74 rolls I ended up with (51 Brinks and 23 customer wrapped). Only thing worthy of mention is a 1936 Buffalo.

searched my fist $100 worth of rolls tonight..
i would say 75% customer wrapped and 10 brinks wrapped..
no war times
no proofs
1939
1940
10 or so 1950-1960
nothing special.. hoping I would get some wartimes or buffs
anyone know if its better chances to nickel search for silver or halves? anyone?
