Monday I went to my annual coin club Christmas party. They had some drawings for some prizes, and I ended up with a mint sealed bag.. of $5.00 worth of 1963 pennies (my birth year). This bag has never been opened. So my question is: Should I open it? any valuable errors or varities from this year?

I've never heard of a "mint sealed" bag of cents with $5 worth of coins in it. All the bags I've ever seen from the mint were for $50 (other than the mini souvenir bags (really looked like tobacco sacks) in the early 70's that had something like 25 coins in them.
This 5$ one is a new one on me.
The only thing to do is either open it and check for varieties/errors or sell it like it is ---- unopened.

If it was me, I couldn't sell it without seeing what kind of goodies are in there. I see there is DDO of the 3 on my list of errors for the 1963.

Which mint? It says Treasury Dept. Washington DC. Not sure that's a bag from one of the mints.

I don't know which mint, maybe it was something you bought at the Treasury Department back then.

Not a MINT sealed bag, but a Treasury sealed one. . Might be Unc cents or it could just have been a convenient way of packaging $5 worth of cents and they could be mixed dates and condition. You will also note there is no date on the bag so you really have no idea what year it is from. This leads to the dilemma, you will never know what is really in it unless you open it, but personally I think it is much more interesting unopened as a somewhat historical item.

ah Treasury Sealed bag.. It was sealed in 1963
I spoke to the original owner of the product. He is a member of the coin club. Said he bought it in 1963 in D.C.
I assume it was all UNCs, but, you are right.. I may have to slit the bottom and open it up.
Either way, I paid $5.00 for the Raffle tickets and got $5.00 worth of pennies. No place to go but up on this one.

I'd open them because as we know, if these have been in a bag for 52 years, they need to come out. The chances of finding a higher grade MS coin is decreasing on the year. Might find some nice wacky toners, however.
Use cotton gloves if you decide to open it.

If it was sealed since 63, then odds are that it could be 90% wheaties...

The prize was not winning the bag. The prize is winning the opportunity to open the bag.
