Did I Find A Penny/Cent Error Or Is This PMD? (Year)

My pictures never turn out but I know someone is going to want to see the coin to answer my question. This is the best I can get unfortunately. I found this 1981 cent that I believe may be an error. The 1 is completely diagonal, almost like half of an X. I don't see any scratches to indicate someone moved the number somehow. Is this an error? If so, is it very common? I've gone through a decent number of cents and haven't found one like this before. Thanks!

I believe that's damage from a feeder finger (I am totally blanking on the wording)

Seen this before, it's coin roller damage. Circulation gets rid of hints of damage
