Saw this as a BIN on ebay for $10 shipped, so I bought it. I have the 1865 and 1888 at EF details, cleaned. What thinketh thou?

I'd pick the 1888 and be happy with that for $10. The rest are just some tasty Christmas gravy!

My devil's advocate opinion: At least three are problem coins, and we haven't seen the reverses of the other two (1903 and 1887).

To me this wasn't a very good deal at all.

I think it's a pretty good deal! However, I also agree that a couple of them are pretty beat up. I think that what you would consider a good deal kind of depends on if you plan to sell it or if you intend to add it to your collection.

Good deal if you intend to pass them out to get kids interested but really nothing I would be proud to own ..... Quality always pays but unfortunately those are junk, sorry!

Thank you for your insult, LocalCoinGuy.

I respect your opinion, but that is a little more blunt than we are used to around here. I'm happy with my buy as they sure beat the heck out of the ones that were in my collection, so I couldn't care less if they aren't up to par with your MS-65 RD set.

They kind of remind me of my 1943 steel penny, it's worn but it's got character and I wouldn't trade it for a shiny new one because I worked for it while roll hunting.

I think you probably could make your money back on that 1865 alone. Not a great fantastic deal, but not a bad deal either. Not something I'd personally have gone for.

The 65 will pay for the entire bunch. The 88 will do well too. You did fine. They're cleaned but you'll still find buyers if you decide to flip em.
