Here's a situation I haven't dealt with before. I have a small $10 ebay order that was sent with USPS tracking. Tracking says it was delivered yesterday, but we didn't get it. Our mail carrier actually knocked on the door and gave my wife the mail yesterday. There was another package from the same ebay seller (two different orders in it) that arrived with tracking yesterday, but that was the only package I received. According to USPS there should have been two packages delivered. I spoke with our carrier today. (By the way, he's a great guy.) He was puzzled saying if he scanned it as delivered it should have been delivered. He said he'd check with the other home owners to see if he delivered it there by mistakes. If it doesn't show up do I have any recourse with ebay? Or since tracking says it was delivered do I consider it lost and I'm out my money? Paul Bulgerin

I've had it happen and the package is usually found with a nearby neighbor. If your neighbors are not home today it may take a day or two but I bet it turns up. And if you don't get it by Monday and have no prior claims with Paypal they'll probably give you a courtesy refund.

I had this happen with a Kohl's order recently. My wife talked to our mail carrier who was off the day it was delivered but said he would check the truck and ask the guy who covered his shift. We also contacted Kohl's who were not too helpful but we filed a claim with the post office. It finally showed up a few days later and our regular carrier brought it to the door and said "is this the missing package?". It was so he rescanned it as delivered again; it was one of those plastic soft pack envelopes and it looked like it was either sliced open intentionally or maybe ripped unintentionally. There was a candle missing from the order but the rest was there. Not sure if someone wanted a candle or it just fell out, but Kohl's eventually credited us for the missing candle.
I would file a claim with the post office - they have actually been pretty responsive - generally someone from our local branch will call and we have been able to eventually locate the package or it gets delivered.

Their handheld uses GPS and when a package is scanned/marked delivered, that location is saved. You can call your local office and ask them to check where it was scanned as delivered.
Best of luck.

Down here in Naples, FL, it is very common for a package to show as "Delivered" a day before it actually gets delivered.

Not all post offices have the new generation scanner that has GPS.

I had that happen before also. The package was scanned as delivered but it was not.
The lady at the post office I asked about just how that could happen said "they are not suppose to but, and especially with temporary Holiday help, they scan all the packages at once while they are at the post office so they don't have to take the time to do it when it is actually delivered".
Perhaps this is what happens to others as well.

Thanks for the responses. I didn't get it on Saturday, so I'll go the the post office on Monday and give them the tracking information to see if they can be of help.

Everything has worked out. It turns out it was a glitch with ebay's tracking. When I clicked on the tracking number under my purchases on ebay for the missing package ebay gave me the information for the other package that was delivered on the 23rd. I don't know why this happened since the number I clicked was different from the other package, but the clerk at the post office noticed that the print outs I showed her for the two packages both had the same tracking number. I went to the USPS tracking site, typed in the tracking number and there it gave me the proper information. The package was delivered yesterday.
