Sometimes I wonder how many valuable coins end up floating around in other countries because no one realizes how valuable they are. I found this 1945 King George VI 5 Cent piece in America. If it were circulating in Canada, I am guessing someone would have pulled it from circulation by now.
From my count, there are two Cuds and three die cracks on the obverse, and one die chip on the reverse. Since I first looked at this coin, I also found a odd indentation on the reverse and other odd markings on the obverse. I might be wrong on the terminology, but hopefully they are not just PMD. I know error coins range in value from face value to auction house worthy. How much is this coin worth?

The Cud is on the right, but I am not sure what the marks by the 'O' are, nor what appears to be outlines of other designs to the inside of the letters.

After looking at this zoomed in photo, I think the mark by the neck is a scratch/Dirt

I am not sure what this shape is on the right side of the coin, but it doesn't look like a scratch.

P.S. Merry Christmas Everyone!

These looks like minor errors at best.

A cool find from change anywhere!
But basically a face value item.
Those are not Cuds, they are places where the steel core is beginning to rust beneath the chrome plated surface. Die cracks and chips caused by deterioration of the plating on the die are plentiful on wartime Canadian coins.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

There is a Number listed #2311 on Coins and Canada for
the Die Chip in C of CENTS. There is one for the C and D
in CANADA as well #950. Mortar Set is another #1864. I
have three 5 Cent coins 2 from 1945 and one from 1944
that show some sort of extra metal in the C in CENTS and
an array of errors. Kinda neat. Mortar set on the 9 in
the date even.

See these macro shots.

What you are seeing is one error... but occurring in multiple places. As DBM noted, this is what Hans Zoell called "mortar set", which is the chrome plating chipping or peeling off the dies.

This is a common occurrence for coins struck during the war years, and does not carry a premium over the grade.

a bit of a bump for this topic..
SPP and SilverDon, I am wondering if the extra metal that I found on my 1945 5 cent is the same thing that is mentioned on Don's coin..
