i couldn't find anything like it on vamworld. VAM 17 seems to have chips like it, but my coin does not have the S/S. my S has polish marks in the loops.

Usually die chips in the 8 are not pups for a VAM. 1881-S is all about doubled date digits and the mint mark. Can you post a close up of the mint mark?
