1981 20¢ "three Claw". New Variety?

Jeff Pillar of the Community Australia 877 Posts	Posted 01/29/2008 4:30 pm When checking some 1981 for 3½ claw variety I found this one. It doesn't seem to have unusual wear or have been tampered with. Inside lower part of claw missing and outside upper part of claw also. All upper parts of claws are short. Anyone seen this before? I have noticed all upper parts of claws being short on 81's, the lower claws may have been the same as yours, I just didn't notice. life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved Report this Post to the Staff
Jeff Pillar of the Community Australia 877 Posts	Posted 01/29/2008 9:36 pm Nancy, If it's a die fill then maybe marks might be noticed from the material adhering to the die. Have you noticed anything like this on 2007s? Obviously with an older, circulated coin like this any tiny marks would have long since been worn.
