When checking some 1981 for 3½ claw variety I found this one.
It doesn't seem to have unusual wear or have been tampered with.
Inside lower part of claw missing and outside upper part of claw also. All upper parts of claws are short.

Anyone seen this before? Any comments?

thanks

Can't say I've noticed it on 81's, but I have seen it on 2007's.

I have noticed all upper parts of claws being short on 81's, the lower claws may have been the same as yours, I just didn't notice.

Nancy,
If it's a die fill then maybe marks might be noticed from the material adhering to the die. Have you noticed anything like this on 2007s?

Obviously with an older, circulated coin like this any tiny marks would have long since been worn.

I don't know if I should keep it or list it on ebay and see what happens.

Jeff

List it on ebay and see what happens.. Maybe it'll sell for a bomb... if not, I think you can cancel the listing? Anyway, your coins will be on the way to you in about 1-2 hours.... Surprisingly yours didn't arrive today, so now I'll guess tmr...

Well I listed it on ebay. Don't expect much but, you never know.
I will let it run to the end and accept whatever it fetches -I don't like to use ebay just to get an evaluation (and that costs you $1.09 minimum anyway for listing fee).

Item number is 250211540196

cheers
Jeff
