What is WE error? Or is it even an error? Why is the L on the outer edge of the coin? And why are the letter so thick? Is this one a DDO? The 9 & 2 look like they could be? The Liberty looks off....? Is this one a DDO? I am looking at the year as well as the 1st and last T in the word trust. And the letters IB in Liberty. Liberty looks off in this one as well. All opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Jo - here's a link to some information you may find useful. http://www.varietyvista.com/Lincoln...0Changes.htmI recommend browsing Variety Vista for a few hours. It should help you come to speed on a few things. Regarding the lettering/devices, normal for coins from the 50s (which I'm guessing your first specimen is from). After looking at thousands of cents, you'll be able to spot ODV and RDV used in the coining process. Seeing the date will only validate what you will already know. Coppercoins, Doubledies (Wexler's site), and Lincoln Cent Resource are also excellent sites for information on Lincoln Cents (and more). And for Error coins, check out Cuds on Coins, Maddieclashes, and Traildies. You'll be able to make the distinction between an Error coin and a Variety coin. Have fun reading and viewing the pictures!

LOL - I'm just an average Joe, but thank you very much. I was where you are 2 years ago and still learning from here daily. In no time you will be advising our new members when the time comes.
Enjoy the learning process and try not to become too discouraged. There is so much to learn and folks here are very willing to share and contribute to the learning. You'll spot the experts in the group (me not being one) that give of themselves to our hobby in so many ways. The best thing is that they are approachable and all around good citizens. And then we have out master hobbiests who are super knowledgeable about our hobby. You can spot them in various forums where the expertise lends to the learning and discussions. Pics 1 and 2: LDS (late die state). What are the date(s) on the coin(s) in pics 1 & 2? Pics 3 and 5: Rackster covered this. Pic 4: That shirt doesn't say LIBERTY on it. Pic 6: PMD (damage).

Roll hunting? How do like it? Do you use bank rolls? Do you travel to different banks to do so? Or something else?
I've seriously considered withdrawing all of my slush fund & gas budget, grocery funds etc... to purchase things w/cash instead of using my debit card, hoping to get lucky with picket change....

I have a 1957 D that is all kinds of jacked up!in the IB. I mean it's bad! Tomorrow when I'm on my laptop I'll upload it.
All of my coins are from circulated change & from 6 rolls of cents/pennies from my bank m. However, all of my wheaties have not come from my bank rolls. I think I've gotten pretty darn lucky (even though some are heavily worn) finding them. 1934-1958 in the last month.
