Hey guys! I'm still new to the coin collection community but today I got my 25$ worth of dimes I've been going through like every other day. And today I made a score for some reason I decided to start putting my 1960s dimes to the side and I was gonna adventually just get 1 of each year and save those and turn in the rest. But I had a buddy over who suggested I look up 1960s , and so I did. After some researxhing come to find out 1968 no s dimes are rare. So I go back to look at my dimes I put aside and low and behold! 1968 Roosevelt dime with no s!

I'm super pumped right now!

I will be loading a picture shortly

to the Community!

A 1968 no S dime could just be a Philadelphia minted dime ( no mint mark for Philly until 1980). It would have to be a proof strike to qualify as a no-S variety.

It this turns out to not be a proof strike, just remember that the lesson can be just as valuable as a find.

Pictures will definitely help, but are you sure that it's not a regular 68p? A 68s no s is very rare and stumbling onto one while roll hunting would be like winning the lottery.

A proof will have a nice strike with squared rims. Depending on wear, it should also have mirrored fields and frosted devices (it does take a good but of wear to diminish those features).

There were over 424 million regular 1968 dimes made in Philly with no S.
There were just over 3 million proof dimes made in San Francisco which should have the S mint mark. There are possibly 3000 of those with no S, but if I recall there are far fewer than that that have been found.
For the most part, the majority of the proof dimes are still in proof set cases

Chances are, it's just a Philly business strike worth $0.10.
I would still like some pics, though.
