That is a great one. I am curious though about what you said that this area is common for die chips. Why would that be?

Hey pete,I'm not sure but I think it's since the zincolns(or since the coining presses started going side to side instead of north to south)it seems to be a pretty common area no idea if either has anything to do with it though?mabi just weak spot on the reverse die? I'm not too sure mabi someone else could weigh in.

Probably not a crack,no-if you picture it each bay is a raised area on the die surrounded by the incuse memorial building and from the striking pressure the top of that bay starts to chip off and gradually gets bigger and bigger over time

Probably from the same die of my GIF image. It is a 2008-P coin as well.
