Hey guys, I just got home from work to post this, and it's to share with you a MASSIVE score I got from my drawer at work! Basically, here's what happened.
I started my shift shortly after school, and as I usually do, looked through the coins and bills for an approximate number and if I needed more change. When I looked through the quarters, I thought I heard a silver ring. Sure enough, as I look at the edges, there's MULTIPLE silver quarters in there and I counted at least 10 silver dimes, too. My heart instantly started racing, and I debated what I should do since I normally trade my money for stuff in the register at closing time. I had plenty of change on me, and my manager was doing something nearby, so I told her that I found old money I'd like to trade for and she was real nice and let me exchange my change for the silver coins I found and had separated by now. Technically, I got these coins for free since I used the change I've picked up at school this week to exchange!
My haul is:
Quarters- 4x 1964 2x 1964-D (all of them have full details and sharp edges and 2 are practically BU)
Dimes- 1946 1948 1950-D 2x 1951 1952 1957 1959-D 1961-D 2x 1963 4x 1964
I'll have pictures by tomorrow, as it's late and I had to use my ipad to take a picture of everything!

That's fantastic... probably more silver than I've found at my part-time job in over three years!

Here's a picture I've been promising! The quarters are all 1964 and 1964-D and the dimes are in date order. I'm actually beginning to wonder if it's possible to complete a Roosevelt dime collection strictly from circulation since I have about half of the dates now and all of them were obtained from the Coinstar machine or for face value.

A full set of Roosevelts from circulation would be a great trick in this day and age. In fact, unless you had a bank job or something like that, I doubt it could be done. How many do you have from 46-64 and how long has it taken to get that many?

In my roll hunting career, I've found all but one Rosie in circulation, and purchased the '55-S later to complete my collection. Still, it reminds me of when I was in high school where I was nice with the cashier and asked her if she could save silver quarters for me, and over the course of several months, ended up exchanging a 1934, 1935, 1937, 1939, and 1942 in which three of those are still in my album. Nice score!

I've never bought a coin for my collection, and I'm trying to assemble as good of a set from circulation as I can. I have all of the following dimes: 1946 1947 1948 1950-D 1950-S 1951 1952 1953-D 1954 1957 1959-D 1961-D 1962 1963 1964 1964-D
And for the clad dimes, I probably won't worry too much about them, as there probably won't be a key date in there anytime soon and with the silver, I'll just have to keep looking.

nice pic, thanks for posting! Yes, a complete set of dimes from circulation is possible, with lots of hard work. Some members here have completed it, like Yinzi. Of course he is a coin hunter of legend, but it just shows that it can be done! I think I am missing about 9 myself, I would have to check to be sure. Keep at it, and you never know.

Thanks for all your comments, one goal I have in mind for now is just to get at least 1 Roosevelt dime from each year, then I can focus on the specific MMS. I currently only need 1949, 1955, 1956, 1958, and 1960 before I have 1 Roosevelt dime for every year when they were silver so it's all about setting intermediate goals you can actually accomplish with effort.

In all honesty, this is one set that I wouldn't worry about finishing as a date set first. It's such an easy set to do, and in the silver series there are no key dates to worry about. I've been working on a 1946-64 PDS set of Roosevelt dimes myself since March, and am about half finished now. Some are BU, most are circulated, with some from the junk bin at the LCS. On the other hand, my Franklin halves, which are coming along very slowly, will be completed as a date set first before worrying about the mint marks. You have a great start going on, that's for sure!
