I'd say you have F-12 details there. The corrosion is pretty extensive though.

I agree with F-12+ for detail. The corrosion would bother me but it sounds like the price was right!

What's going on with the reverse rim at the 11:00-12:00 position? Has it possibly been "spooned" (lightly hammered) to produce that over-hanging effect? It doesn't seem like it could have been made that way.

after 195 years of banging around I doubt any spooning was needed. Most of what you see there is a little ding picking up form my single bulb photo technique.

Thanks for the comment on my Avatar. It is a scanned image that really doesn't do this coin justice. I have sent an updated picture of it taken with my digital camera to Mom to swap out. It is much nicer pic of this coin and shows the rim toning much better.

Jim,

I didnt know putting an ebay item number here was prohibited. If you search ebay for a 1830 half and see mine, I just would like some input on it. This is the first time I have experimented with large file, inserted pics. Reading some of your posts looks like you might be a guy to know.
