Looks like somethings happening with the die that made your coin. There is Machine Doubling and there is also medium/late die wear.
What happens to a die when it wears. It starts to get weaker looking. Why weaker? Because the die is showing the edges of the letters and the fields start to blend into what I refer to the snow drift look. Instead of being a sharp defined device/field, they start to blend. Not the bottom of the letters toward the rim. Not how the appear to get longer almost touching each other? When a die wears, it makes the devices on the outside edge lengthen toward the rim. RT on Quarter The R looks shelf like, but compare the overall size of the R. If the shelf look wasn't there the size of the letter is normal. Learning on training the eye to recognize what is there.
