I finally bought the 3 most common GSA CCs and I got a few toner Morgans along with a MS63 CAC 1876 Seated Liberty dime. I was amazed at some of the prices for toned coins but yet I found the NGC63 '82-CC for very litte if any premium. I also got the full reverse toner '83-CC from a local dealer who bought it for the common CC price from a wholesaler. Did anyone else have any good purchases? What about opinions on the Tampa location? Edited by 1916 D Merc 01/10/2016 10:37 pm

VERY nice Merc I sat this year out. I live on the east coast of FL and the trip to Orlando wasn't bad last year but I do not enjoy the drive across the middle of the state. BEAUTIFUL pickups!

I went on Thursday as it is my normal day off. I bought over 30 coins including 17 AU Second Empire, and Third republic French Centimes. It was rather crowded and the dealers I spoke with were all pleased with sales. On of the first tables I stopped at had near a hundred certified MS large cents and Half Cents! This poor girl had never seen the like.

A decent show, but I like the Orlando venue a bit more.

1916 D Merc Nice group of coins, looks like you had.
I hate asking exactly how much you paid for the GSA's. But I am very curious how well they were priced.
May be you can give a ball park .. Little over $200 ... closer to $300 ... etc.
I am a days drive to the fun show, but I don't go because my experience, coin show prices are higher than I can get at other venues.
I have been feeling I should try one of the bigger shows ..

GR58 no problem the 1882 and 1884 were right at 200 and the 1883 was not quite 250. The dealer I bought the 1884 and 1883 from has a long relationship with me and is the only true coin dealer near me. I personally think he had trouble selling the 83, which is truly beautifully toned for a GSA CC.
Double Eagle I agree, I liked Orlando a lot more than Tampa. I wonder how Fort Lauderdale will be next year.. Not sure if I can make that one.

I went but after a few hours trying to track down a 1916 LSQ that was good enough to buy, but not so expensive I could not afford it I went home with some nice Buffalo nickels. What I don't like about the show what I was not able to get a scooter because I was not renting a hotel. I have some mobility problems so after about 2 hours my brother and I were headed home. I wish there was a central point where you could put in requests for certain coins and go directly to those dealers that had them in stock. I was there on Friday and that was enough for me. I found it to be an unorganized mess to tell the truth. A very rare dime was sold for over a million dollars at the Heritage Auction.

Awesome coins Merc! I really like the reverse toning on that silver dollar! In my very limited experience, the coin show tables are shooting the angle on the whole toned coin business. It's weird that all of a sudden toned coins are the hot ticket among collectors, they are awesome...but before, blast white Morgans were the hot ticket. It makes me wonder why collectors from 20 years ago didn't fancy the toners?
Anyway, I'm in Panama City Beach for the winter and am going over to a prominent coin shop here in town either today or tomorrow. I was told to wait and come tomorrow because the owners were at the FUN show. They apparently have three bins full of CC GSA coins, I'm going to try and buy a 78' and 82'.
A local cherry picker bought a $300 coin from them recently and it's now come back from the grading house and it's worth a tidy 8k....I about crapped my pants when I heard this story. They say this kid has the best eye around.

Thanks for the price information.
Those prices make me feel better about checking out a bigger show.
I have gone to quite a few smaller local shows, where it was had to find any good deals.

This collector of the '82 is rather jealous of that 1882. Well done!

Thank you all! This year was by far my most expensive FUN Show.
GR58, I usually find the big shows have really competitive prices and there are some deals to be had. I also found that many dealers are very high on the prices marked and take a good bit off when you ask for a price.
