I just got an email back from the foremost expert on liberty Seated quarters in the known universe and he took a look at the OPs coin and declared:

"An obvious fake to me...typical China product"

For me, mystery solved.

Maybe I will send it off sometime for verification for an in-hand analysis. What is no-no site? Is that ebay? If I send it in and it's fake, do they confiscate it? Even if it's fake it's still a nice whole filler in my opinion.

I would send it back to where you got it for a refund.

This kind of opinion will destroy the hobby.

Thanks Desfreeworld for the follow up. Did he say anything as to why they would have used silver and the 1 to vertical shield line being moved compared to the other fakes?

No, just the one liner.

A nice hole filler is a decent AG3 not the supporting of mass cast counterfeits. I don't even buy coins anymore unless its from an extremely well respected resource of the Numismatic community. I am simply blown away by how deep the market has been penetrated by this scourge. Sickening.

The site we do not speak of. It's not The Bay. It is the site that your coin was born from before it was gifted to you via the bay years back.

How many years ago did you receive this?

I believe I got it about 3 or 4 years ago.
