I do not own this coin or have it in hand. I got permission from the owner to post and ask opinions. Unfortunately, the only picture I have right now is of the date. I couldn't match this to anything but it looks like a doubled date. Has anyone seen this before? Any feedback is appreciated.

this is Machine Doubling damage, note how the devices are reduced and shelf like. our expert coop should be here soon with some wonderful pics to help explain.

Hopefully, you (your friend) will get lucky with this coin. I have had several of the doubles on the 72's but unfortunately they were all deemed Machine Doubling.

Here are some more photos. In correspondence with the owner of the coin the tail of the 2 in the date has shelf like doubling but the length of the 7 and length of the 2 are rounded on top and of equal height

While it looked interesting, the MDD on the rest of the coin exposed this one. The date was interesting the most. I had to see that the MD was on the right side of the devices on the 1, then figured out that was what was going on with the rest of the date. MD on right side of digits.
