Is this penny a double died observe? It looks pretty doubled in the date. Sorry for posting two questions about double died pennies in a row but I am relatively new to this and could use help. Thanks!

Looks like either light reflections or maybe MD. Can you get a clearer picture of the date?

Here is another scan of the date, I can also see doubling on this one. Hope the quality is fine

I can also see doubling in the letters in this scan.

to CCF. Scans of coins almost always drive me crazy. If you have a digital camera use the macro setting and it should do fine. From what I can make out it looks like MD.

I'm not so sure. I'd really like to see a better picture.

These aren't much of an improvement but they aren't scanned. I took them with my microscope. I can see some doubling especially in the B and R in LIBERTY.

Even if it isn't a DDO is it an error at all?

just to be clear about your "semantics". the term your refering to is "doubled die" - not "double died".
and probably should be referred to as "cents" - not pennies.
altough I personally don't see a problem with calling them - pennies...it seems that some pureists do..

in any case - just have fun - in your search....
