Hi all, thanks for looking. First post here. I inherited a collection and I have a lot of questions. I hope I do not become a burden. I am hoping to find someone local, that I can trust, to assist me, but in the meantime, I am having a good time reading through here and I hope I bring some interesting items to share with you all. I will try to get better pictures, but for now, this is what I have. 41 penny, slanted 1. I see a lot of posts stating that these were typically pushed. Best I can tell, there are no marks suggesting that. I have a Standing Liberty quarter that appears to be punched on the wrong planchet. I know, that would be extremely rare, but, the size, the raised ridge...I don't know. Also here is a penny stamped with a 2 and a 42 penny with a high d. Thanks for the help, appreciate it greatly. I have a lot more to share, but these caught my eye. My apologies, as I uploaded the pics, I am seeing they aren't that great...I will get better ones.

to CCF. 41 looks like PSD. 61 w/2 stamped on it is a counter stamped coin. 42 w/high D is normal. Mint marks were hand punched on the working die and can be in various areas below the date. The SLQ looks like it is in a bezel. John1

Thanks for taking the look. The stamped one I had figured as much by looking around. Thought the high D would've been slightly special. The SLQ, define what you mean by bezel. I know what a bezel is, etc...but, this appears to be one solid piece, stamped wrong. Its smaller, has letter cut off, possibly curved up...Thanks

The SLQ has a pushed up rim, because that's how it got to fit in the bezel.

I do see that the outer ring appears to be a different color, maybe material. Could it have been a really worn one and someone decided to put a bezel around it? Why? No sign of a hook or anything as if it were meant to be jewelry. Don't know how much better these pics are. Working with what I got, sorry.

I just don't get why people would do something like this... I appreciate the help and I promise, I have much better things to share. I need to setup my DSLR camera and try to get some good pictures... My issue right now is, do I want to spend the money to have things graded...It would likely cost me a small fortune to have what I want graded done....
Thank you all again!

So, no one wants to believe its a SLQ punched into a nickel and make me rich? lol As always, thank you all. I have found great people in a Jeep forum for my Jeep and I am glad I took the step to join this one for these coins! As soon as I have the time, I will setup my camera and get some coins loaded up. Hopefully the DSLR will do justice.

I just spent about an hour reading through there after making an attempt with my Sony DSLR. Didn't know this was going to be so painful. I am going to have to do a lot more reading. I think I will either try an iphone lens addons and make a box/stand for it to sit in, or maybe a microscope so I can shoot straight to the Pc. Lots more reading to do. THANK!
