AU-55 or so. There is a heavy contact mark on the shield but that should not result in a details grade. Nevertheless, unless authentication is your goal I wouldn't invest a grading fee on this common-date half eagle.

Easily will holder at EF40.

They are forgiving with gold. I don't like the amount of wear on the front of the crown in front of Liberty and the hair beneath it.

I'm going to say XF45 - AU50.

The slabbing of old US gold makes them easier to sell I'd imagine. Should allay some fears of counterfeits. That would be the reason I'd have it slabbed. I don't see the slab as adding any value here really but it will make it more marketable and honestly, that should lead to a slightly higher price. Not sure if that small potential bump is worth it versus the cost of slabbing.
