I'm not sure what might have caused this. Is it a natural woody? I saw in another thread it could be polish marks done at mint?

Probably roller marks rather than improper alloy mix. They were predominant around 1980 +/- a few years.

Looks like it could be slightly rotated die?

Nice looking anyway - I keep those!

Nothing too special- most cents I find from around 1980 have this. It's still copper, though.

I really love these kind, I have a couple "woody" Wheat cents and also some from the 60's and 70's.
