I was looking to get a ASE on ebay and I wanted to make sure it looked right before purchasing it. Nothing is inheritly questionable about the price etc. He just only had a few thousand sales and I don't know the font and design well enough to pick up anything wrong. I know well enough to test it with a magnet when it comes.

This will be for a pocket piece. I figured might as well get ia free airtight for the same price as one that would come in a flip unseen.
Rest in Peace

Looks good. All the fakes I've seen have a "squished" left foot.

Looks good to me.

Is that toning or just a reflection on the center of the obverse?

I'm assuming a reflection office its toning I doubt it's going to last long like that where it's new home will be. Popping it open and it's going straight in my pocket and as long as the airtight is in good shape I reuse it for something else,

Looks good to me.

There's also an app you can download called Bullion Test. I have it on Android; I don't know if there's an iPhone version or not. I've found it to be most helpful and really cool to use.

looks legit.

I never get tired of looking at this design.

Keep a photo journal of your pocket piece. Will be fun to see a time lapse over the years... maybe one pic/month or so.

Maybe it is time for pocket piece ASE's to get their own progress thread for those of us with one.

I see nothing suspicious. Of the few fake ASEs I've seen, usually the rays of sun look kinda blocky at the end and not nicely tapered.
