Is it common on 1932 pennies to have doubled dates 1932/2?

1933/2 penny (last digit) sells for about $80 U.S. in VF (Australian grading).

Pics 1932/2.
Looks like a 2 over a 2, that is why I'm asking if its common for 1932 pennies to have doubled dates.

There are a lot of minor differences in date figures in aussie coins. Collecting these things is good for the collector as the majority don't attach much importance to them and hence are reasonably easy to find. Having said that I'm pretty sure if you went to a coin dealer and asked for a 1932 aussie penny with a doubled 2 they would look at you as if you had 2 heads, and direct you to the junk bin and tell you to find one yourself.
I have a keen interest in such varieties and don't consider any of them "common".

I'm wondering if at some time there was a die with a recut 2 in the date? Some of the penny enthusiasts might know if this is a possibility.

A definite possibility. Almost a certainty.

My guess is its RPD.
Unlike the US, there is little or no interest in these sort of errors in Australia.

Question, so if these coins have little interest why does the 1933/2 penny attract attention?
