I'm not sure if it comes across in the pictures or not, but it still has a fair amount of luster remaining on both sides of the coin. The die cracks actually piqued my interest at the time of purchase; they are fairly prominent on this dollar, and thus one of the reasons I decided to pick up the coin. :) However, I actually don't know what a VAM is, as I'm still pretty new to collecting Morgan dollars.
