Hey everyone, was thinking about selling my 2 ag3-g4 1916 s Walking Liberty half dollar. Planning on putting them on ebay just wanna make sure I get a fair price out of them, I was thinking 35$-40$ each. Does this seem fair, at work currently so I don't have pics but will post some later. Thanks everyone, this community has taught me so many things I didn't know. I appreciate you all.

AG examples seem to sell on ebay for $20-40. If dates are full and there are no rim dents or other problems the price is likely to exceed $50.

Good luck!

Hello Justin ..... You should have no problem selling those examples .... But ....

Better pics could help and you'll need them to help sell better ..... Try putting a couple quarters under the coin so as to raise the coin so your camera focuses on the coin, not the background ....

Also natural daylight may yield better results ..... And the iPad can edit the photos, crop it, we don't need as much background as you are showing .... Pics shown below cropped on my iPad ....

Best of luck!

Thanks very much for the advice. I'll play around with the iPad later and practice taking photos.

I would anticipate $15-20 for these coins.

Have y'all tried to BUY one lately? I have... $70 for a nice problem-free raw G4.

My estimates for an ebay auction...

AG3:
-- raw $30-$40
-- slabbed $40-$50

G4:
-- raw $60-$70
-- slabbed $85 and up

Greysheet bid/ask is $75/$85 for G4 1916-S Walker. Coins Magazine says $100.

If you think yours are problem-free G4, I'd get 'em slabbed by NGC or PCGS.

Selling Points:
-- Walkers are popular.
-- At 508,000 minted, 1916-S is 3rd rarest Walker.
-- 1916 was 1st year.
-- 2016 is the centennial... US Mint commemoratives in gold... should generate more interest in real 1916 coins (later this year).

Good luck with your sale!

Thank you, I'll look at other ones graded g4 and see if they are close. If so I might send them in. I've never sent coins in to be graded yet. I have a few I plan on though.

CO Collector: Great point about the centennial. It should drive up the price somewhat for sure!

Try getting better lighting. Even with a cellphone or ipad the light you use is very important. This will help increase the price you sell it for.

What's the best kind of light to use for pictures? Hopefully I can get 30 each out of them, I'm gonna use the money plus add some to buy a 1921 Mercury dime. I picked both those 1916s up for 5$ each on a bulk deal of junk silver.

Agree on better lighting ..... Some good indirect natural daylight would work wonderfully ...... Steady iPad on something to focus on coin and then use timer feature to click shutter ....

Justin ..... I'm no expert and am trying to figure out the photo gig myself but here is an example of using the iPad with only indirect daylight ..... In the one picture see the difference when a simple dish twerp is used behind the subject coin .....

You'll need to experiment with your light source and backgrounds but do use the timer feature and you can also adjust the brightness / darkness of each picture by tapping the iPad screen when in photo mode and you'll see a little sun slide come up, move up or down to adjust ....

Good luck, I think you'll get your price!
