It could just be your photos but it appears UNC details - polished. Hope I'm more wrong than ANACS.

Politely suggest that you are holding back critical information to allow us to help you ...

What was the TPG grade assigned?

The photos suggest MS something.

Looks 64. What were you expecting? Lovely near PL, especially the wide fields.

Here is how it came back....AU53...I was very unhappy..I had it graded at MS63 at least...wanted some experts to let me know if I expected too much...I will likely resubmit to PCGS, wont be using ANACS again..Anyone can have an off day, but, what a lovely rare coin....Any ideas?.Thank you all for the replies!

Maybe it's just the lighting used for your images, but as I scrolled through them my eyes saw an AU coin based mostly on the coin's reverse -- I see rub on the high points of the bear. Also, along with dave700x, I wondered about whether the coin had been polished.

Bottom line, when I got to the end of the post and saw an AU-53 grade I was not too surprised.

If you send it to PCGS or NGC be sure to let us know how they graded it.

Thank you all for the replies. Like a lot of you, I was fooled by this one too, the pictures made it tough. in hand all the lettering and designs are sharp , making me believe it was not polished.I felt that what commems noted was strike, but, his doubt about light circulation, would probably be the opinion of any TPG.He probably saved me some money! the price break for this coin looks to be MS63. My AU53 is worth about as much as an MS60! Also,i love this coin, keeping it with my PT Barnum, Grant, 1921 Illinois ect. they are all safe.

It would be difficult for me to grade from the pictures, unfortunately. Perhaps it is the lighting used to expose the surface of the coin inside the plastic case. ANACS didn't have to face this disadvantage we are facing.
To my eye, it is hard to assess the surface detail of the coin itself.

Examine the coin 'in hand' for yourself, using a 10X loupe; that is what the TPGraders do.
If you do not like the grading, perhaps you could consider having it re graded by another leading TPG, perhaps by PCGS.

Its beautiful MS65/66 to me . Use either PCGS or NGC which is my favorite.
