I bought this one at a coin show a couple of years back. I have her at EF details. Due to the lack of hairlines, I think this coin was overdipped and not mechanically cleaned. Did I overpay at $50?

The dealer had $75 on the 2x2, but when I mentioned she was cleaned, he offered $65, and then when I hesitated, he offered $50. I took it without giving him an offer.

if you're happy that's what matters. Would I have paid $50? No. I would have saved $50 a month for 3 months and than gone hunting for a problem free EF45 which would cost you anywhere from $100 to $150.

The magic of this coin is that I can just wait many years for it to tone back to a lilac gray, and I'll have a problem-free coin.

No you won't. The surfaces will always reflect the earlier cleaning.

Trust me.

XF Details - Improperly Cleaned. Did you overpay at $50? Not really, but the $75 original asking price was too high. Some retoning while resting on untreated wood near a coal-fired power plant would help it a lot.

I agree with XF-Details. Doesn't look bad for $50. Probably not a deal either.
