VIDEO mk0F_sQY-kM
Had to cringe when I watched this video. This is why we have to vigilant and tell newbies not to clean their coins.
Apparently it was sold, ending yesterday, on
ebay for a little over $6K.

Any idea how much the person who ruined it sold it for? And how much did it end up on auction?

Sorta like all those whizzed coins that my grandfather "improved" before giving to me in the '70s. Of course, he wasn't buying any coins for $100K.

Why would someone break a $100,000 coin out of it's holder, much less try to clean it?

The dealer did everything he could to prevent the coin's destruction short of buying it back. Moral of the story: DON'T CLEAN YOUR COINS!
