I'm thinking of putting 2 ASE's, one up and one down, in a 100+yr old cedar lined steamer trunk that still smells like fresh cut wood just to see what happens

Maybe make a stand for it where it would be minimally touching the rims. That way you could get both sides toned the same amount.

I am ALWAYS suspicious about coins that are toned similarly on both sides (like the ANACS one above)....

If you think of how coins are normally stored it would be near impossible to get toning that way.

Morgans are famous for their crescent shaped bag toning but usually only the side facing outwards (towards the cloth bag).

Had same idea. Started a 2016 ASE and a 2016 SML toning in box. I am planning on flipping coins over once a week. See which one tones better.

I know what you keep coins in/on matters in toning...but does heat? I don't mean hitting it with torch, I just keep box in same room as wood stove(stays really dry) can get kind of warm in there.

I kinda unsure about that case. The wood stove will dry out the air in winter a lot. I know coins are more likely to tone in high humidity. I'm just wondering how much smoke would escape the stove. I know I probally tone it a lot if you stored them on top of the stove haha.

Well might have a problem with the humidity here in Montana. Did move coins to room farthest from wood stove. Might help a little with that part.

May be we should have a dedicated thread for Toned/Toning ASE (Remove the "2015" in the title and get everyone to just focus/post all that related about ASE tone in this single thread (just like we did with the ATB puck)).....

This is day one before I took it out and slipped in my pocket. During the day it will be in the change pocket of my jeans with my normal pocket stage. At night I have a stand set up in my bedroom for it. I plan on taking pictures everyday as a experiment. I may update it monthly on the pocket piece thread. Just takes to optimize the images every day. I like to do a time lapse but I see if I can get the images close enough day to day.
