Hello everybody. I'm new not only to this forum but to the coin topic in general. I have registered here to get some help form experienced collectors as I imagine you are. I have found some gold coins (12) in the house I have just bought. I made a quick research and found out they are mostly Liberty Heads Double Eagles from 1904/1907 and St. Gauden's from 1926/1927. I'm almost certain they are not fakes (expertize done by one numizmatic expert in Warsaw), but I'm not sure is it worth to pay for grading them. To me - they look quite stunning but I would like to hear some experts opinion. Could you also estimate it's value? I would be really grateful for helping me out. Cheers !

(I decided to post a topic also in this forum I hope I do not break any rules)

Hard to tell from these photos if the coin is authentic. I don't feel comfortable with the looks of the rim on both sides. If genuine the coin does look like it would be MS condition and worth having it professionally graded and encapsulated.

...what an awesome find! I would highly suggest getting them graded and slabbed especially if you would like to sell them. this will also protect you so that someone doesn't rip you off by low-balling the price. they do appear to be mint state so the cost to grade them is well worth it.

to CCF!

The coin you showed us appears to be real, and it appears to a MS coin. I would get this coin certified because it will help the coin sell better (if that's what you intend to do) and it would make sure that the coin is 100% real.

I think TPGing it is the best way to go with this grade. However, the mint produced so many of these (they didn't circulate a ton either) that the difference in price between circulated and MS coins is rather insubstantial. However, it will still bring a good deal more if slabbed as uncirculated.

Thank you for replying me ;) You say it looks like MS state, but do you think it's closer to MS61 or MS63, let's say? Numizma - ypu said the price difference would be insubstantial - when I showed this coin to coin expert in Warsaw he said it is authentic, and he offered me instantly 4500 zl; which is approx. 1090 USD. I replied I'd think about it. Is that a fair deal? I think of selling them (except few maybe), but I dont want to give them away for cheap price especcialy if highly graded. Thanks!

PS. Would you like to make your opinion about grade and value rest of my coins? I would highly appreciate that !

In that grade, you should go much higher. The PCGS price guide value for low MS coins (MS-61, 62) is about $1400. If it's a higher grade than that, you could go a few hundred dollars higher. I'm thinking it may be about MS-63, but I'm awful at grading.
