Greetings,

I am in the market for a 1909-s Lincoln Cent. At first, I was expecting to to see the date and mint market following the know 4 positions of a 1909-s vdb.

After searching through the forums I found this post (https://goccf.com/t/149951&SearchTe...ark,position) that indicates the mint mark was added to each die and would vary with each die created.

If anyone has any additional information on selecting a 1909-s cent, please let me know. I am currently considering a coin with the following date/mm.

Thanks for your advice.

As far as I know, there is no photo source for all MM positions of the 1909-S cent.

If your concern is for the coins authenticity, just find a certified coin in the grade you are after.

Might be a good idea to check out the certified slab's authenticity also. Yeah it's a dog eat dog world out there.
just do your homework on all phases before you pull the trigger.

If you're unsure on how to authenticate a raw coin, it's probably best to buy a slabbed one. They really don't cost that much more, if more at all.

The "four mint mark positions" ONLY apply to the 1909-S VDB, as they only used four dies before they made them remove the VDB and start using dies without the initials.
