This is a cast and silver plated (not even real silver) fantasy issue of some sort.

The countermark (probably also cast with the coin, not struck) and the plug were probably applied to add some vintage feeling of this piece.

A clear case of a numismatic forgery.

I am very familiar with this coin it is part of a set of Replicas (usually 6 in total) that are sold at tourist locations. The last place I saw the intact set (on sale for $ 9.99) was at the Castillo in St. Augustine, Florida. All of the coins in the set are stamped COPY. For this coin the word COPY is placed on the reverse surface of the plug.

Here someone has pounded out the word COPY. This is a perfect example of turning a perfectly legal replica into a numismatic forgery (a blatant fraud).

For those of you that own my book here is a reduced size (to fit Forum limits)of my example of the same item from Disc # 1 - name 1791-zzcl4-SoDA-004-RG-Copy. On my coin the word COPY has not been effaced. The only way to get the discs are from me directly or on ebay from John Lorenzo. Amazon will not copy discs to accompany books anymore.

My ebay signature: johnmenc

John Lorenzo

Its a modern cast. Cast from the surface and modern due to its overall design elements. 100% certainty.
