I am going to say no, it is just MD on the mint mark. I had a similar 1984-D cent that looked almost just like this, and was told by one of the major attributors that it was just MD.

Good pics showing what looks like MD. Facing the rim. Hard to tell if it reduces the device from that angle though. Also can't see the other side of MM which if present would show possible split serifs.

One suggestion for future MM pics would be to include at least one pic of a straight on shot (not angled) of the date and MM together. Thanks, Doug.

If it were a RPM, then it would be raised.
1981-D-RPM?
Note a RPM can fade, but they are not flat shelf like looking. They are raised, outside of the normal mint mark area because of being punched into the die.
