I have this 1985-P Dime, which shows Roosevelt with a bit larger head than the rest of the 100 or so dimes I've looked at today. The lettering is also a bit bubbly like (possible) double stamped. There is also on the outer edge of the coin almost tracing Liberty the type of grooves that are on the outside of the coin. If you notice the included pictures, which don't show as much justice, that the center coin has Roosevelts back head much closer to the edge of the coin that the rest. Have seen other 1985-P's and don't notice the same anomaly. Double Stamp? Is is worth any thing. The four coin picture; the one in question is to the far right. The two coins; obviously the left one.

Your 2003 is one style, the 1987 and 1988 are another style, and the 1985 is yet another style. Every few years the design is redone and new master hubs are made.

I'll try to make a more clearer copy, but it still has a sort of Double stamp to it.

Thanks for the changes Coppercoins.
Question being is: I have another dime with the same date and so forth that has a smaller head. Crazy question; if any of you have a 1985-P dime on hand or whatever, can you compare it with another dime so that I'm not thinking my eyes are going bad (with & without) glasses. LOL.

There are some variation in dies and pairings of dies on dimes. I have for example dimes of a certain date that I am researching, (slowly, but I'm getting there) That have completely different reverse dies paired with the same date obverse.

It is not an issue of die wear, as the lettering is completely different and the flames of the torch are completely different.

It is therefore probable that there are some yet to be understood differences with respect to dimes.

I also noticed what appeared to be a really big headed Rosy about a month ago and checked out other dimes same date and mm and then I found a few others. Apparently there are varieties.
