I picked this 1879 S this week .. not sure why.
I think the old holders catch my eye.

I am curious what Grade others think it is?

interesting color. maybe was in an album at one time. in any case she looks MS65 to me.

Obviously mint state, but the photos prevent any further determination, at least by me.

I think the color is from my poor ability to take pictures.
In hand it is the normal silver color

I have heard the older holder .. May be under graded

The angels of the photo against the light reflection cause too much fine contrast. Try the light filtered (even by a piece of wax paper works).

Looks like a beauty but I just can't see the surfaces.

From what I can see in the pic I think it went 65.

After looking at the pictures of this coin, I see that
I really need to get my lighting set up better.

In hand I think this coin is at least a MS 65 coin.

To me ... I am not sure if I like having the OGH
or a new holder MS65 more.
