I have this 1919 silver 10 Diez pesos Colombian coin. I think that it is a mis-strike with the wrong planchet. It's silver, the 10 peso 1919 10 Diez pesos coin is gold. Perhaps someone can shed some light on this coin? Thanks...

Pictures would be greatly appreciated to help you out with this situation.
My initial thoughts are if you're not mixing it up with the Colombian 10 Centavos piece, .900 silver. If I'm not mistaken, they have very similar designs.
What's the weight and diameter of this coin? A 10 Centavos piece should have the same specifications as a US silver dime (2.5gr, Ø18mm) whereas a gold piece would be considerably larger (and heavier)

I would also point out that a contemporary circulating counterfeit might fit the description as well.

If it is a circulating counterfeit it is likely worth no less than $25.

I've seen at least two similar pieces before, and I know one was up maybe 6 months ago on ebay (can't find an archive of it, though)... not sure of the exact date/denom., but definitely Colombia gold types of right around that date in silver/white metal. I don't really recall whether they seemed more like pattern, contemporary counterfeit, or simply modern fantasy forgery in nature.

Looking at Krause, etc., there are known essai strikes in silver dated 1923 for the normal 2 1/2 and 5 pesos gold coins. There is a known 1918 10 pesos pattern strike in bronze, however... Sedwick auctioned an interesting one struck on a US Army button:

Have come across this guy before... haven't had any contact with him before (though I need to on a particular piece), but he seems to be a specialist in Colombian patterns involved in Colombian numismatic circles. Perhaps he is familiar with these...
