Picked these up the other day. They are the most unique looking Silver Dollars I've ever owned. The "darkness" is not toning, it's more of a mirror like surface. These look different than other uncirculated Morgan's that I've seen.

Man to my untrained eye they look polished. Not hatin' just an observation.

Fortunately I don't think that's the case. I looked at them under a 10x loupe and see no indication of scratches at all. I've been burned by polished coins in the past and these don't look anything like the polished ones (I held them side by side). I hope I'm right though..

My opinion ... From looking at the pictures ..
I too have to go with polished .. Maybe whizzed.

They do not look natural

You guys certainly could be right, I'm no expert. My question would be how did someone polish exactly around the lettering of the coin without leaving any scratches at all around the coin? Like I said, even under a 10x loupe there are no scratches (aside from a few isolated bag marks). With the polished examples I have, you can clearly tell the coin looks too shiny/flat. I can also see scratches on those, especially with a 10x loupe. I wish I could take better pictures, in person the coin doesn't look as "smooth" as the observe pictures I posted.

Both coins look at least MS-64, it could just be the pictures but they do look like they have been dipped.

guaranteed polished by some means, there doesn't have to be scratches with a non abrasive polishing agent..
Rest in Peace

Disappointing but I got a really good deal on them so I'm not going to bother returning them. I really wish I could get better at grading though. I've got a fair amount of questionable coins that I can't tell if they are cleaned or not. This is why I buy slabbed for anything of much value. Thanks everyone.
Rest in Peace

They are whizzed. The halos around the design details where the wheel cloth couldn't reach is the best indicator of a whiz.

I agree they are definitely uncirculated but lightly polished and dipped...You can find easy high mint state examples relatively easy...They are like the 1881s, 1880s, nicely struck and affordable. I'd return those two if possible.

It makes sense now. The flip was labeled UNC but the seller stated they were circulated and rated these particular coins as "good." I got them in a lot with some other dollars for $15 a piece. Can't really beat that price and the seller claimed they were circulated so I'll be keeping them.

Well he advertised them as circulated. The pics were bad so I didn't expect them to have this much detail. Most sellers want $15+ for culls and even though these are polished I'll take them over a cull any day. If I had it to do over I would have still bought them for that price..
