Found this nickel in a collection I purchased. Cannot find another like it. Going to list it on ebay later tonight. Any information would help, thanks. Nick from northcoastcoinsny

What kind of info did you want? Seems like a normal BU nickel.

The date has clear doubling. I could not find another one. Just curious if anybody had seen a similar coin or knew the value. I do not collect nickels or error coins. It was in a coin flip labeled DDO SMS but only the date is doubled and I don't think it's from an SMS

Looks like MD to me but I am far from being an expert and is just my opinion.

Thanks, I think you might be right. I don't deal much with errors but after a little research it looks like the Machine Doubling examples I've found. It's a pretty extreme doubling though I could see it with my naked eye. Thanks again for the info. Is it against the rules for me to post the item number from ebay? It has better pics but the forum took down the link I posted.

you can post the images, but posting a link to your ebay sale is a form of promotion, and that is not allowed for a new user. That was covered by the Buy/Sell/Trade/Want List Rules and Posting External Links that you agreed to when you joined.

There seems to be some pretty heavy MD on some nickels.
This is one I posted earlier this week.

Thanks for this info everybody. I've learned a lot. I never knew that there was more than one form of doubling.
