Bought this lot of nickels on ebay for $8.50 shipped, still works out to be $0.42 a coin which isn't bad.

Last coin of the 2nd horizontal row of coins.

Looks like a 1921 to me. Reverse pics show an S mintmark, which would make sense.

It's hard to tell if it's a 1 or a 7. I'm leaning towards a 1.

Looking forward to hearing what you got.

Absolutely positively 100% a 7.

A 1921 would be amazing, but I have to agree that it's a 1927. The top of the last digit is too notched and squared off to be a 1.

I am not sure ... pictures detail, to me, is not
that good.

Either way .. for price you would not be out much

A little-known fact about Buffalo nickels is that there are slight design variations for the years 1920, 1921, and 1924 that make the date determinable even in the absence of a readable year.

From this we can determine that the coin in question is almost unquestionably NOT a 1921.
Rest in Peace

I don't know guys, I keep seeing a 1 there. We'll just have to wait.

Regardless if it's a 1 or a 7, I didn't do that bad on the lot. I can throw in some coins I've gotten here and there in junk lots I've already made money off and get it out the door for $15 shipped, so the risk was worth it, at $0.42 a coin.

Look at the width of the underside of the horizontal bar of the last digit. WAY to wide to be a 1. 100% a 7. I'm not quite sure how you can mistake that.

B/t/w always bear in mind that before becoming so motivated to drill down to the core (throwing it in vinegar/hydrogen peroxide[50/50] with a pinch of NaCl for 2 hours) read this thread: one of the very best ones I've ever encountered addressing this subject matter. This six page thread focuses in on especially Buffalo nickels.

This will take the reader directly to a '21 when needed:

By better recognizing the visual attributes with the use of this thread one may mitigate the loss of valuable time messing around with the chemicals. Simultaneously, it could save one from unnecessarily lowering the worth of a very valuable coin...

Sorry for the redundancy...

I passed over Kefiroth's previous post.
