I read recently about 1943 Lincoln errors being found. The error was they were made with the slightly smaller dime planchet.

I remembered seeing a coin that seemed a bit odd the last time I looked at it. The gap from the rim to the "In God We Trust" seemed quite a bit narrower and the L of "Liberty" seemed to be stamped partially on the edge of the rim.

I sent the coin to NGC for grading and it came back graded but in a plastic sleeve saying the error wasn't a recognized error.

I've attached a photo of the Obverse and am asking for your thoughts about whether this is an error coin or not.

Thanks

A cent on dime planchet would be silver in color and the planchet is a lot smaller in diameter.

You have a 1943 steel cent. It is supposed to look silver.

Coop, the title on your image is wrong, it is a cent on dime planchet not on dime stock. A cent on dime stock would be on a planchet of cent size but punched from dime strip. The term "wrong stock" means the wrong strip or "stock" was fed into the blanking press for the planchets being punched from it. In the case of the coin you picture, the planchet was a dime planchet cut from the proper dime stock. While technically the cent is on the wrong stock it is because it is on the wrong planchet not because it was cut from the wrong stock.
